Adding Google Custom Search Engine To Blogger

Today I am going to show you how you can add Google Custom Search Engine in your Blogger. If you are not satisfied with Blogger's default search widget which is not much efficient and is not capable of showing relevant results, here’s an alternative solution.

When it comes to search technology, first thing that definitely strikes our mind is Google. A huge and a most preferred search engine that bring up accurate results for all user queries. For Bloggers and webmasters, Google offers a search widget which will give a best experience in exploring your site. So adding Google search bar helps your visitors to dig the most appropriate and interesting content.

1. It improves impressions and page views on your blog
2. It keeps your visitors engaged by making them to find and read further articles
3. You can monetize by integrating Google adsense in Google custom search engine.

Other than this, Google custom search engine has functions to customize the theme of search box, enable voice search, image search and many more options. You can also change the layout of the search box and search results, or even use your own search box and display custom search engine's result somewhere else.

Creating your Google Custom Search Engine

1. Go to Google Custom Search Engine.
2. Sign in your Google account, click on New Search Engine then fill up the form like shown below and finally click on Create.
3. Once you've successfully created your Custom search engine you can finally add it to your site by clicking on Get code.
4. Lastly copy and paste the code into your Blogger where you want this to appear.


Customization

    To change the Layout of your search engine click on Look and Feel.

Overlay - display the search results in an overlay.
Two pages - display the search box on one page and the search results on another page in the same window.
Full width - display the search box and search results in one column.
Two column - display the search box in one area and the search results in another area.
Compact - display the search box and search results in compact form.
Results only - use your own box and display the search results on a page of your site.
Google hosted - display the search box on your web pages and search results in a Google-hosted page.

    You can also choose a theme for your search engine by clicking on Themes.


Default - the Default style resembles standard Google search results.
Minimalist - the minimalist style has a simple rollover, a larger search box, and a simple color palette.
Espresso - the Espresso style uses a serif font, Georgia, in a warm color palette.
Green sky - the Green sky style uses Trebuchet as the font and has dotted rule separating search results.
Bubble gum - the Bubblegum style has a larger search box and rollover effects for each search result.
Shiny - the Shiny style uses Verdana, a sans-serif font, and it has rollovers, a larger search box, and a cool color palette.
Classic - the Classic style resembles standard Google search results.

    To fully customize your search engine, click on Customize.
